  • Signs MoU to offer affordable education financing for students

Amana Bank opened its 30th Self Banking Centre at the recently inaugurated International Campus of Science and Technology (ICST) University Park located in Punanai Batticaloa, under the patronage of the bank Managing Director/CEO Mohamed Azmeer, Chief Risk Officer M.M.S. Quvylidh, Vice President – Retail Banking and Marketing Siddeeque Akbar along with the participation of the University Founder Dr. M.L.A.M. Hizbullah, Chairman Eng. M.H.A. Hiras, Vice Chancellor Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, campus administration, academic staff, students, local authorities and other key stakeholders from the region.

Providing convenient access to the university students and academia, the Self Banking Centre facilitates 24/7 access for cash withdrawals, cash deposits and bill payments. 

During the opening, the bank also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the university to offer education financing solutions, where students can easily avail the bank’s people friendly and affordable financing to pursue a wide variety of higher education courses, including diploma, degree and postgraduate programs. 

Commenting on the expansion of its Self-Banking Centre to Punanai the bank Managing Director/CEO Mohammed Azmeer said, “We are honoured to have established a Self Banking Centre at this state-of-the-art university premises, thereby providing convenient financial access to university students and people of the locality as the university is centrally located serving the people from Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee districts.”

Further commenting on the bank’s commitment to enhance education in the region, Azmeer added, “The bank looks forward to continue and further strengthen the engagement with ICST by catering to the students, staff and other campus requirements with Amana Bank’s array of financial solutions, thereby contributing towards ICST’s noble vision.”

ICST Vice Chancellor Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara expressed, “This partnership with Amana Bank is beneficial for our students to pursue their studies without the burden of financial constraints, as they offer people-friendly financial solutions. With the establishment of a Self Banking Centre on the university premises, students, faculty members, and staff now have convenient access to their bank accounts, eliminating the need to travel miles to reach a bank.”
