Top experts to share insights at event focusing on ‘Resilient and adaptable – Way forward for banking’

All arrangements are now being finalised to hold the major event of the annual calendar of the Association of Professional Bankers. The grand timely presentations on the theme ‘Resilient and adaptable – Way forward for banking’ will be held on Monday 20 February from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Grand Ball Room of Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

While the first two sessions will be on the topics of ‘Resilience in the VUCA World’ and ‘Collaborating Tech to Adapt’ the final two sessions will deliberate on another two important topics. “Adaptable Skills and Resilient Leadership – The New Age Talent Formula” by BOI and Port City Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody. The most important resources especially in the current situation to steer the industry are people and right leadership. The APB has chosen this topic giving emphasis to its importance in the current context. Tough times need tough leaders, people, strategies and decisions. Being an industry veteran, the speaker will be able to enlighten the participants with his vast experience and expertise.

The session will be followed up by a panel discussion with key experts as panellists; namely, Dinesh Weerakkody, Sampath Bank CHRO Dr. Lalith Weragoda, and Singer Sri Lanka Director HR and Business Integration Roshan Kulasuriya. The panel discussion will be moderated by Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim.

The final session is themed on ‘Steering through difficult times – View from the top’ to deliberate from birds point of view by apex personalities of a number of leading banks. The session will be quite interesting as the expert panel will share their experiences and viewpoints as to how they have steered off their institutes to safer waters during these turbulent times. The panellists are Bank of Ceylon Chairman Ronald C. Perera PC, People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapaksa, Commercial Bank Chairman Prof. Ananda Jayawardena, HNB Chairperson Aruni Goonethilleke, and Sampath Bank Chairman Harsha Amarasekera PC.

The session will be moderated by a senior most banker, Sampath Bank Senior DGM Intl Banking Shashi Kandambi Jassim.
