The Association of Professional Bankers (APB) convened its 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Kingsbury Colombo. In a demonstration of confidence and trust, the members elected a new cadre of leaders to steer the APB through the complexities of the banking landscape. Halin Hettigoda, with over eight years of invaluable service on the council representing Sampath Bank PLC, has been elected as the President with Anton Arumugam of DFCC Bank as Senior Vice President, and Vice Presidents Dilshan Perera of HSBC Bank and M.R.N. Rohana of Bank of Ceylon (BOC). Anjali Goonetilake of Sampath Bank was appointed Secretary General while Indika Ranaweera of NDB Bank was entrusted with the Treasurer’s responsibilities and Isuru Jayaweera as the Assistant Secretary. Alongside these appointments, nine council members were elected to bolster the APB’s governance structure, positioning the organisation for continued excellence and advocacy in the banking sector. Thushari Hewa-wasam, Sisira Kumara, Ramonez Perera, Devika Silva, Anton Perera, Asela Wijesiriwardhana, Surantha Jayathilaka, Kanchana Karunagama and Rajitha Thoradeniya have been elected as council members. The newly formed leadership team signifies a collective commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service within the banking industry.
