Attorney at Law Kasthuri Anuradhanayake assumed duties as the new Chairman of the Regional Development Bank on 1 May amidst religious observances. This Attorney at Law who has held the position of Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Government is the fourth Chairman of the Regional Development Bank.
While addressing the management at the time of assuming duties, the new chairman said that his objective is to give leadership for the progress of the bank working collectively as a team in a creative manner to achieve the basic goals of the Regional Development Bank in compliance with the Administrative and Financial Regulations utilising his knowledge, experience and relationships in the legal field as the bank possesses an experienced staff with a lot of banking experience.
He also said that it is his intention to expand the business activities of the bank and to act attentively and in a transparent manner with regard to the progress of the employees, working together with the management and the trade unions of the institution, and it is historic that his assuming duties has fallen on the International Workers Day while the bank has celebrated its eighth anniversary. It is his wish to make this an opportunity to pay attention to fulfil the aspirations of the rural sector in order to alleviate their lifestyle.
He thanked the management and the entire staff for the warm welcome accorded to him on the day of assuming duties and said that the best wishes and the blessings of the subject Minister Lakshman Kiriella and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be bestowed on the bank.
This welcoming ceremony was organised under the guidance of the Acting General Manager/Chief Executive Officer T. Kuhan and the welcome speech was delivered by its Executive Director Priyantha Abeysinghe and the Director General of Government Information Attorney at Law Sudharshana Gunawardena also addressed those gathered. Chairman of the Coconut Cultivation Board Kapila Yakandawala, Chairman of the Tea Small Holdings Development Authority Wijeratne Devagedera, Chairman of the Land Reform Commission Sampath Subasinghe Arachchi, Director General of Central Cultural Fund Prof. Prishantha Gunawardena, representatives of the CBEU, and other bank trade unions, members of the management and the staff graced the occasion.
