Banca Mastermind: first ever inter-regional quiz competition by Union Assurance

Bancassurance Mastermind Champions the Sampath Bank Colombo Region Team with Union Assurance Bancassurance Director/Chief Executive Officer Dirk Pereira and Assistant General Manager Samantha Herath

Union Assurance (UA) continuously focuses on various initiatives to drive employee engagement within its organisational network while practising it across all its sales channels. Setting new trends with the intention of unlocking knowledge and empowering minds, the UA Bancassurance channel organised ‘Banca Mastermind’ Inter-Regional Quiz Competition on 11 October at the Grand Monarch, Thalawathugoda. It is the first time that UA bancassurance channel has held an event of this calibre. 

‘Banca Mastermind’ specifically intended on encouraging the young talent of the team to be aware of the business trends, current business affairs and life insurance in general. Involving the young talent with a positive attitude and behaviour to improve their outcomes that affect the organisation’s success has been the main objective of this novel initiative. 

This also gave an opportunity to all the Bancassurance team members to encounter and interact with each other and to share their knowledge. 

Total of 25 teams representing the island-wide Bancassurance branch network of Union Assurance battled against each other in the competition, and the Championship of the Banca Mastermind was bagged by Sampath Bank, Colombo Region. 

The 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up titles were bagged by Union Bank, Colombo Region and Commercial Bank, Wayamba Region. 

Expressing his views, UA Bancassurance Assistant General Manager Samantha Herath said: “It is a great pleasure to see such positive engagement for an event of this stature especially from the young talent within the bancassurance team. I believe that this kind of initiatives is highly admirable to increase the engagement and enthusiasm among the employees.” 

UA Bancassurance channel, which is the market leader in the Sri Lankan Bancassurance arena, is majorly powered by a young team of professionals, who will be continuing to drive the performance further by acknowledging and rewarding the knowledge through unique initiatives of this stature.  The company believes that it would encourage to unleash potential knowledge of the team, which will be beneficial to empower them to engage more towards driving the business forward.
