Bank Ceylon partners University of Sabaragamuwa to promote digital payment facilities

Sri Lanka’s No. 1 Bank, Bank Ceylon recently entered into an exclusive partnership with the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka to promote digital payment facilities through the bank’s Online Payment Gateway (IPG).

The ceremony took place recently with the patronage of the bank’s Assistant General Manager (Sabaragamuwa Province) W.M.N.D. Dayawansa, Regional Manager (Embilipitiya) J.D.B.W. Jayakody, Manager (University of Sabaragamuwa branch) H.M.S. Herath, Manager (Thalduwa branch) S.N. Dayarathne, Manager (Balangoda branch) K.K.J.R. Samarasekara and Indunil Athukorala from Provincial Sales Unit. Meanwhile, University of Sabaragamuwa Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.M.U.S.K. Rathnayake, Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies Prof. H.M.S. Priyanath, Registrar S. Uyangoda, Centre for Open and Distance Learning Director D. Jasingha, Bursar K.A.R.S. Jayakody, Bursar – Acting W.A.M.P. Senadheera and Senior Assistant Bursar (Salary) R.M.N.K. Rathnayake graced the occasion representing the university.

As a result of this exclusive partnership in promoting digital payment facilities, both local and international undergraduate and post-graduate degree applicants of the university are empowered to settle their course fees digitally. In addition, the university is also expected to gain efficiencies with the added ease in the administration by cutting down unnecessary documentation with the use of digital payment facilities.

In leading the country’s banking sector in digitisation, BOC has been supporting the Government to advance the country towards a sustainable developed nation through digitisation which is in line with the Central Bank’s digitisation policy and program. Over the years, BOC spearheaded the industry in introducing a range of cutting-edge digital solutions such as BOC Smart online banking, B-APP mobile banking SmartPay QR scan mobile app, Branch on Wheels, Smart Zone, BOC Digi, Smart Pass Book, SmartGen Digital account as well as enabling customers to open deposit accounts online and to apply for housing/personal loans online.

In a testimony to its unmatched service excellence, “SLIM-Kantar People’s Awards 2022” adjudged the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) as the “Best Service Provider of the year 2022” and “the Best Banking Service Provider of the year 2022” in the country, which were two prominent awards in the ceremony. As a recognition for its contribution towards promoting digital inclusivity in banking, BOC was awarded the prestigious “Overall Gold Award for Excellence in Interbank Digital Payments” at the LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2022 organised by the Lanka Clear Ltd.
