Banker M.C.V. Rajanathan launches ‘Pinnacle of five decades of banking’ and ‘Lending against collateral’

Senior Banker M.C.V. Rajanathan launched his memoirs titled ‘Pinnacle of five decades of banking – A journey beyond’ recently at the IBSL Towers. The author, in addition to the release of his memoirs, also released another publication titled ‘Lending against collateral – What you should know’, which was a surprise and his gift to the banking community.

Asian Bankers Association Chairman Emeritus Rajendra Theagarajah graced the event as the Chief Guest. Among the distinguished invitees who addressed the Audience were Securities & Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka Chairman Faizal Salieh, Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka Director General C.P.A. Karunatilake and Sri Lanka Cancer Society Chairperson Anoja Karunarathne. A galaxy of distinguished personalities of Banking and invitees from the Banking fraternity with whom the Author had associated during his Five Decades of Banking was present at this launch.

Rajanathan commenced his Banking career with HNB in 1973 and after his retirement from HNB continued with his journey in Banking with various leading Banks in the country and retired from active Banking in 2019. 

Even though he retired from active Banking he continued with his journey in Banking by imparting his knowledge with the Banking fraternity, being a Senior Lecturer attached to the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and the Centre for Banking Studies, Central Bank of Sri Lanka. “Imparting knowledge has been his passion”. The distinguished dignitaries who spoke at the launch appreciated the contribution made by the Author to the Banking Industry and commended his initiative in sharing his five decades of expertise. The Chief Guest Rajendra Thiyagarajah traced his long association with the Author and appreciated his immense contribution to the Banking Industry.

Faizal Salieh, in his review of the Book, commended the Author on the book which has been written in a reader-friendly way and takes the reader to the insight of the Author’s five decades of Journey in Banking inclusive of his childhood which is an interesting Journey which should be read by all. IBSL Director General Karunatilake appreciated the contribution made by the Author in imparting his knowledge to the students of Banking and his noble gesture of donating all Royalty to a worthy cause.

Sri Lanka Cancer Society Chairperson Anoja Karunarathne gave an insight into the work carried out by the Sri Lanka Cancer Society and thanked the Author for his magnanimity in donating the entire Royalty derived from these publications to the Sri Lanka Cancer Society. The Author, Rajanathan, thanked all those who have assisted him in his Five Decades of Banking Career and emphasised it’s a Journey Beyond and thanked the Audience for their presence in celebrating an important milestone of his Banking career. 

At the commencement of the event, two minutes of silence was observed as a mark of respect to all departed colleagues, friends and relatives.
