Bond market activity moderates

The secondary bond market activity moderated once again with only the 15.05.31 maturity changing hands at a level of 28.75% yesterday. In the secondary bill markets, 16 September 2022 and 2 December 2022 maturities traded at levels of 21.00% and 32.89% respectively.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 7 September was Rs. 10.82 billion.    In money markets, the weighted average rates on overnight call money REPO stood at 15.50% each while an amount of Rs. 796.201 billion was withdrawn from Central Banks SLFR (Standard Deposit Facility Rate) of 15.50%. The net liquidity deficit stood at Rs. 447.22 billion yesterday as an amount of Rs. 348.98 billion was deposited at Central Banks SDFR (Standard Deposit Facility Rate) of 14.50%.

 

Forex Market 

In the Forex market, the middle rate for USD/LKR spot contracts depreciated further to Rs. 361.9000 yesterday against its previous day’s level of Rs. 361.8056. The total USD/LKR traded volume for 7 September 2022 was $ 12.74 million.
