Bond market activity moderates

The secondary bond market witnessed moderate activity once again, with the 15.05.26, two 2027’s (i.e., 01.05.27 & 15.09.27), 15.01.28 and 01.07.32 maturities changing hands at levels of 29.90%, 29.20% to 29.25%, 27.90% and 26.00% to 26.10% respectively. 

Meanwhile, bills maturing on 26th January 2024 traded within 27.25% to 27.35%.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 15th February 2023 was Rs. 36.13 billion.   

In money markets, the overnight net liquidity deficit was Rs. 207.96 billion with the said amount being withdrawn from Central Banks SLFR (Standard Lending Facility Rate) at 15.50%. The weighted average rates of overnight call money and REPO was at 15.49% and 15.50% respectively.



Forex Market 

In the Forex market, the middle rate for USD/LKR spot contracts remained steady for the third consecutive day at Rs. 361.92. The total USD/LKR traded volume for 15th February was $ 45.25 million.
