Bond market activity moderates

The trading activity in the secondary bond market moderated yesterday with yields increasing marginally. The limited activity was seen on the liquid 01.05.24 and 01.07.25 maturities at levels of 30.00% and 30.10% to 30.75%.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 22 March was Rs. 52.45 billion.  

In money markets, the weighted average rates on overnight call money and REPO stood at 16.49% and 16.50% respectively while an amount of Rs. 190.39 billion was withdrawn from Central Bank’s SLFR (Standard Lending Facility Rate) of 16.50%.



Forex market 

In the forex market, the USD/LKR spot contracts depreciated marginally to Rs. 319.00/325.00 yesterday against its previous day’s closing level of Rs. 318.00/320.00 subsequent to trading at Rs. 319.00.

The total USD/LKR traded volume for 22 March was $ 81.25 million.
