C.R.P. Balasuriya assumes duties as Acting GM/CEO at HDFC Bank

C.R.P. Balasuriya has been appointed as the Acting General Manager/CEO of HDFC Bank, effective 26 September 2024. 

Prior to this new appointment, he served as the Deputy General Manager (Treasury) of HDFC Bank and continue to oversee the Treasury functions.

Balasuriya joined the bank in 2004 and brings over 35 years of experience in the banking sector. He commenced his banking career at People’s Merchant Bank in 1988. At People’s Merchant Bank, he served in several senior managerial positions in Credit, Accounting and Treasury Management, and Corporate Finance. Subsequently, he joined HDFC Bank in 2004.

Since then, he has worked in the positions of Accountant – Finance, Accountant – Treasury, Senior Manager – Treasury, Chief Manager – Treasury, AGM – Treasury, and was appointed as DGM – Treasury in 2020.

During his career, Balasuriya has attended several local and foreign training programs and workshops covering various aspects of banking. He holds a B.Com (Special) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Master’s in Finance and Economics from the University of Colombo. He is also an Associate Member of the AAT Institute of Sri Lanka.
