The Central Bank (CBSL) has increased the size of the T-bill auctions, while no T-Bond auction is scheduled to settle coupon and principal maturities according to charts.lk
CBSL is required to raise a little over Rs. 165 billion on 15 May to settle the principal maturity of a T-Bond which had been issued six years back. CBSL did not hold a Bond auction to raise money to repay coupons on 1 May instead they printed and settled.
It is witnessed that CBSL has increased the volume of the T-Bill auctions during the month of May so far. Accordingly, the auction size was Rs. 160 billion last week and this week it is Rs. 140 billion.
