CFA Society Sri Lanka to host inaugural CFO Forum: “Riding challenges towards opportunity”

CFA Society Sri Lanka is pleased to announce its inaugural CFO Forum titled “Riding the challenges towards the opportunity,” on Tuesday, 16 July 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Kings Court, Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. This exclusive event targets CFOs, and senior finance professionals, providing a platform to discuss and navigate the challenges faced by businesses in the current economic landscape.

The forum will feature a panel discussion focusing on critical issues such as the primary macro and micro challenges confronting CFOs in Sri Lanka, strategic planning in a declining interest rate environment, identifying and capitalising on major growth opportunities, leveraging rapidly evolving technology while managing associated risks, and integrating sustainability into financial decision-making.

Proposed panelists include  Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC CFO Nandika Buddhipala, John Keells Holdings PLC Group Financial Controller Mohan Thanthirige, Fitch Ratings MD Maninda Wickramasinghe, and LSEG Finance Centre of Excellence, Sri Lanka Director/CFO and Co-Head Fadhil Jiffry. The discussion will be moderated by Acuity Knowledge Partners Senior Director – Specialised Solutions Chamara Gunetileke, CFA.

CFA Society Sri Lanka President Aruna Perera commented on the significance of the event: “In these times of economic uncertainty, CFOs are at the forefront, navigating their organisations through uncharted waters. Our forum aims to equip finance leaders with the insights and strategies needed to turn challenges into opportunities.”

CFA Society Sri Lanka CEO Aruna Alwis said that leading Chief Financial Officers from the financial services sector and other industries are expected to attend this inaugural forum to share their insights and strategies on navigating the current economic challenges.
