CIMA to shed light on finer points of Tax Appellate Procedure

CIMA Sri Lanka is conducting a forum on the finer points of the Tax Appellate Procedure on Wednesday 5 December at the CIMA Auditorium. The session will cover the tax dispute resolution process under the new Inland Revenue Act as well as for VAT, NBT and ESC. 

The presentations will be delivered by Suresh R.I. Perera, Principal – Tax and Regulatory and Rifka Ziyard, Associate Director, Tax and Regulatory at KPMG Sri Lanka.

The forum is primarily aimed towards chief financial officers, accountants, tax consultants and legal officers and will cover the intricacies of the Tax Appellate Procedure including: new developments in responding to tax inquiries, the different types of assessments including advance assessments, default assessments, amended and additional assessments, the settlement of assessments and penalties, challenging tax assessments and tax in default notices.  

The forum would also address the developments in appeal process including administrative review under the new Inland Revenue Act, administrative provisions in relation to appealing to the Tax Appeals Commission, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
