The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in collaboration with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) will hold an exclusive session for sharing and engaging on the recent global and regional development of sustainability reporting on 24 August 2023, from 3.00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.

GRI works with businesses, investors, policymakers, civil societies, labour organisations and a host of other stakeholders to seed a culture of transparency and accountabilityin the region and around the globe. Used by more than 10,000 organisations in over 100 countries, the GRI Standards are advancing the practice of sustainability reporting, and enabling organisations and their stakeholders to take action that creates economic, environmental and social benefits for everyone. As confirmed by 2022 research from KPMG, the GRI Standards remain the most widely used sustainability reporting standards globally.

Commenting on the event, CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike said: “Being a member of Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative (SSE), the CSE has publicly demonstrated its commitment towards promoting sustainability among the listed companies in Sri Lanka that would in turn enhance corporate transparency in the market. In this context it is timely to engage with listed companies with regard to the recent global developments in sustainability reporting,” he further added.

On another note, GRI South Asia Director Dr. Aditi Haldar observed that: “With sustainability reporting steadily becoming a mainstream practice, business impact on economy, environment and social can become more transparent and hence become a part of decision making. We see this as a positive change and believe it will help improve the impact story of organisations around the globe. As providers of world’s most widely used sustainability disclosure standards, we see ourselves as a catalyst for this change.”
