Capital budgeting essentials

‘Capital budgeting is the process in which a business determines and evaluates potential expenses or investments that are large in nature. These expenditures and investments include projects such as building a new plant or investing in a long-term venture’ (www.Investopedia.com).

Possessing a thorough knowledge of capital budgeting is essential for finance professionals considering the quantum and strategic business importance of the investment concerned. From a business perspective it is also critical that finance business partners evaluate the most cost efficient and viable method of deriving benefits from such high valued assets considering a business’s cash flow, profitability and long term strategy. The Third Wave (3W) Academy which is the retail corporate and IELTS education provider of the Third Wave group which has been in business in Sri Lanka and Bahrain for 21 years is conducting its second master class on ‘Capital budgeting essentials’ after a successful program on finance for non-finance professionals was held in July.

The capital budgeting masterclass will be held on 16 August from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 3W training room situated at No: 8, Bambalapitiya drive, Colombo 4. The speaker for the program will be Mohomed Inthikab Bin Ali who was a former Director of Ernst & Young for the MENA region and has over 18 years’ experience working for the ‘big 4’ audit firms, multinational companies and blue chip companies in areas such as strategic management, consulting and employee development in USA, UK, Middle East, India, Maldives, India and Sri Lanka.
