Ceylinco General Insurance, in collaboration with Chubb Insurance, USA, paid an advance of $ 1 million to the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo to commence repairs on Thursday 25 April, just 4 days after the devastating bomb on Easter Sunday.
Officials of Ceylinco General Insurance visited Shangri-La within a few hours of the incident on Sunday 21 April, who got in touch with the hotel management immediately. On Monday 22 April, an initial inspection was carried out and Ceylinco General Insurance, in collaboration with Chubb Insurance, USA, paid the advance to Shangri-La Hotel to help them expedite the repairs.
Further assessments of the extent of damage will be carried out by a loss adjuster, appointed by the reinsurer in consultation with Ceylinco General Insurance. The advance of $ 1 million was arranged even before finalising the initial investigation report. Shangri-La properties in Sri Lanka and the Maldives are insured by Ceylinco Insurance, in collaboration with Chubb Insurance, USA.
