Commercial Bank’s Credit and Debit Card holders can now automate the settlement of their monthly electricity bills, following the addition of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to the bank’s ‘Auto Bill Pay’ facility.

This facility provided by Commercial Bank makes life easier, as bills are paid on time and in full each month without any involvement of the customer. The bank’s customers can enrol for this facility by providing their CEB account numbers displayed on the electricity bills, and details of their cards. The bank has introduced a new system to ensure that the registration process is seamless and can be done remotely without visiting a branch. This automated registration system is hosted on Commercial Bank’s website. After successful registration, CEB presents the monthly bill amount to be deducted from the card. Commercial Bank sends the receipt of payment to the customer via e-mail or SMS.

In addition to the convenience it offers, the Auto Bill Pay facility prevents accumulation of arrears due to unpaid bills, saves customers from delinquency fees and prevents disconnection of electricity due to delayed payments. Furthermore, customers can earn Max Loyalty Rewards points that can be redeemed later on at many reputed merchant outlets island-wide. The automation of the payment also means that customers are saved from the hassle of keeping track of their bills and timely payments.

Customers can register their Visa, Mastercard or UnionPay Credit Cards to benefit from the ‘Auto Bill Pay’ facility. The bank has been offering this facility for the settlement of Dialog bills since 2018. The addition of the CEB to the service further enhances functionality for the customer as well as the convenience offered by Commercial Bank to its cardholders. Commercial Bank Credit and Debit Cards offer year-round promotions covering a wide variety of services. Commercial Bank was the first bank to offer loyalty rewards for both Credit and Debit Card holders under its Max Loyalty Rewards Points scheme. The bank was also a pioneer in extending promotional discount offers to its Debit Cards which were traditionally only offered for Credit Cards.

Commercial Bank cards are the fastest growing cards in Sri Lanka and enjoy market leadership in Credit and Debit Card cumulative point-of-sale usage. The bank offers a variety of Credit Cards in the Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers of Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay Cards, as well as Visa Signature, World Mastercard, Visa Infinite, UnionPay Asia Prestige Platinum and UnionPay Asia Prestige Diamond Cards in the premium segment. The cards are equipped with ‘Tap ’n Go’ NFC technology and are backed by a strong NFC Point-of-Sale (POS) network.
