Daniel Alphonsus joins Orient Finance Board

Orient Finance PLC has announced the appointment of top professional Daniel Alphonsus as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the company.

Alphonsus leads Daraz’s payments, financial services, and digital goods verticals across South Asia. He also serves on a number of Sri Lankan Government economic reform committees.

Previously, he was an economic adviser to Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry, and also worked at Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry and Verité Research. He has a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics from Balliol College, Oxford, and public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

Alphonsus fills the vacancy created on the Board following the resignation of Indrani Goonesekera on 1 June.

With the latest appointment, the Board of Orient Finance PLC comprises Chairman R. Theagarajah, Director/CEO K.M.M. Jabir, P.A. Schaffter, N.S.S. Cooray, D. Ratnayake, N. Karunaratne, M.R. Abeysekera, D.L.M.S. Chandrasekera, and D.N. Alphonsus.
