Dr. Kumaratunge appointed senior adviser to FASL

Dr. D. Kumaratunge, former Assistant Governor of Central Bank of Sri Lanka was recently appointed as senior adviser to the Fintech Association of Sri Lanka (FASL).  

Dr. Kumaratunge has over 30 years of experience in the Central Bank and has worked in the Departments of Economic Research, Centre for Banking Studies, Information Technology, and Management Audit in different capacities and served as the director of Payments and Settlements Department before resuming his role as Assistant Governor. Dr. Kumaratunge holds a PhD in Business and an MSc in Information Technology. 

FASL is a MoU-signed partner of the Fintech Associations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, etc. FASL also a MoU signed partner of ASEAN Financial Innovation Network (AFIN), a Singapore-based not-for-profit organisation founded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA) and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), to collaborate on the Application Programming Interface Exchange (APIX), a global fintech platform.  

FASL was a supporting institution and co-organiser for various summits, awards and seminars in Asia including ‘Finners City Summit’ in 2018 in Shanghai, China; ‘Chain Plus: Asia-Pacific Blockchain New Finance Summit’ in 2019 in Singapore; ‘Real Estate Tokenisation – Challenges and Opportunities in Hong Kong’ Seminar in 2019 at The University of Hong Kong; ‘Block Plus Summit – Future of Fintech’ in 2019 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; ‘India Fintech Award’ in 2019 in Mumbai, India; ‘Fintech Galaxy Awards’ in 2019 in Dubai, UAE; The Asian Banker’s ‘Finance Sri Lanka’ in 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka; ‘Asia Smart App Awards’ in 2019, 2020 and 2021 in Hong Kong; ‘Singapore FinTech Festival’ in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 in Singapore; ‘Seamless Middle East’ in 2020, 2021 and 2022 in Dubai, UAE; and ‘Hong Kong FinTech Week’ in 2020, 2021 and 2022 in Hong Kong.
