Fairfirst Insurance officially commenced operations yesterday with the Department of Posts, Sri Lanka Postal Headquarters in Colombo.

Fairfirst signed a Memorandum of Understanding late last year with the Department of Posts, through which the insurance products of Fairfirst will be available for purchase via the extensive postal network in Sri Lanka, enabling customers to purchase third-party motor insurance over the counter at the postal office.

Attending the occasion were Minister of Posts, Postal Services and Muslim Religious Affairs M.H.A. Haleem, Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe, Fairfirst Insurance Managing Director and CEO Dr. Sanjeev Jha and other members from both parties.

This tie-up gives Fairfirst access to over 868 online branches and 201 sub-branches during its initial phase of operations. Moving forward, this will expand to over 4,000 post offices island-wide.

Ranasinghe said: “It’s our pleasure to be partnering with a leading insurer like Fairfirst. We too have moved away from traditional postal services in order to remain relevant to changing times. Partnerships like this uplift what we stand for and allow us to offer a superior service to people.”

Being a leading general insurer in the market, Fairfirst is continuously assessing new avenues and partnerships that augment their growing distribution network in the country. Already the insurer with the highest share of wallet with brokers, Fairfirst is also home to a comprehensive branch network, leading affinity partners, growing agency force, strong key account management team, and a fully-fledged online insurance purchasing platform
