Redefining how insurance is underwritten, Fairfirst has taken a bold step towards introducing Sri Lankans to À La Carte Insurance.

With digital disruption changing the way customers like to interact with service providers, personalised insurance is taking shape the world over. Although, still at its infancy, insurers are now re-thinking how to stay relevant to the evolving customer of today.

In a restaurant À La Carte refers to the practice of ordering individual dishes from a menu, as opposed to settling in for a set menu. Fusing the two elements of Insurance and À La Carte is the Fairfirst Insurance Online Shop. Here, customers choose from a menu of insurance solutions and decide what they want to go for and how much to pay for it.

While the Online Shop offers the standard policies like the comprehensive motor cover and the third party insurance cover, what’s truly remarkable is the Make Your Own Policy option that takes customisability to a whole new level. For instance, one can choose to insure just different segments of their vehicle such as the rear end or the sides. Basically the possibilities are seamless.

Fairfirst initially began with a soft launch of the Online Shop back in April and at present offers motor, motorbike and pet insurance solutions. The platform will continue to be augmented with more ground-breaking product propositions being introduced in the months to come.

Head of Marketing and Digital Solutions Sasith Bambaradeniya commented saying, “À La Carte insurance is a concept that has not yet been explored in Sri Lanka and perhaps elsewhere in the world too. This is a product that offers customers a real sense of freedom for personalisation. We are very excited about being first to market and eager to learn from this experience.”

Hosted on the corporate site, the Online Shop can be viewed atwww.fairfirst.lk. Incidentally, Fairfirst recently clinched the title of best insurance website at the Web Awards 2018 organised by the esteemed Web Marketing Association in USA. In its 17th year, the Web Award program is the longest running annual website award competition dedicated to naming the best Web sites from across 96 industries while setting the standard of excellence for all website development. Fairfirst Insurance is the only Sri Lankan insurer to have succeeded in claiming this international title.

Among the top General Insurance companies of Sri Lanka, Fairfirst serves individuals, businesses and institutions across this beautiful island through a versatile workforce spread across a comprehensive branch network, affinity partners and leading brokers in the market.

Fairfirst Insurance is also part of the Canadian based Fairfax Group. Fairfax, through its subsidiaries, has an international insurance and reinsurance business with a global underwriting reach, longstanding relationships and a broad product range. Fairfax has a strong foothold in the growing insurance and reinsurance markets of Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Brazil.
