First Guardian Equities (FGE) stockbrokers became the first stockbroker in Sri Lanka to receive the ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System certification awarded by RoyalCert.
ISO 27001 is an international standard than provides the basis for effective management of confidential and sensitive information, and for the application of information security controls.
The formalities were recently concluded with a presentation of the certification being accepted by First Guardian CEO/Managing Director Rohan Goonewardene at the FGE office at the 32nd floor of the East Tower of the World Trade Centre (WTC) which houses the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Currently FGE is the only stockbroking firm operating in Colombo’s iconic financial centre.
Goonewardene added that this globally accepted certification is not only a proud moment for the firm but for the entire industry as it strives to be the most liberal and efficient destination in the region for financial services.
He also thanked Jerome Samarasinghe and Amila Perera who provided technical assistance to FGE’s team headed by Nilanka Priyashantha in implementing the stringent ISO standards requirements.
Japan’s SBI Group, which has several listed entities on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and operates Japan largest online brokerage, is First Guardian Equities’ major shareholder.
