Fresh trading week starts on dull note

The fresh trading week commenced on a dull note yesterday with limited activity witnessed only on the maturities of 15.05.26 and 01.05.27 at levels of 28.22% to 28.25% and 26.60% respectively.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 26 May 2023 was Rs. 21.91 billion.

In money markets, the DOD (Domestic Operations Department) of the Central Bank injected liquidity by way of an overnight reverse repo auction for a volume of Rs. 8.00 billion at weighted average rate of 16.19% while an amount of Rs. 103.87 billion was withdrawn from Central Banks SLFR (Standard Lending Facility Rate) of 16.50%. The weighted average rates on overnight call money and REPO stood at 16.47% and 16.50% respectively.

Furthermore, the DOD (Domestic Operations Department) of the Central Bank injected liquidity by way of a 31-day reverse repo auction for a volume of Rs. 19.5 billion at weighted average rate of 19.70%, valued today.

Forex Market 

In the Forex market, the USD/LKR rate on spot contracts were seen closing the day at Rs. 296.50/297.50 yesterday against its previous day’s closing level of Rs. 296.00/297.50, subsequent to trading within the range of Rs. 296.00 to Rs. 297.50. 

The total USD/LKR traded volume for 25 May was $ 88.50 million.
