HSBC Sri Lanka was recognised for its outstanding commitment and support rendered towards creating a safer and more resilient Sri Lanka at the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management 10th Anniversary Forum held in Tokyo, Japan.
The certificate of appreciation was officially handed over to HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives CEO Mark Surgenor, at the HSBC Head Office in the presence of Corporate Sustainability Manager Dilini Fernando by A-PAD Sri Lanka Country Director Firzan Hashim.
A ceremony to celebrate A-PAD’s 10th anniversary was held on 28 February at the International House of Japan, Tokyo which was attended by several high-ranking Japanese government officials, including Minister of Digital Affairs Taro Kono, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Takei Shunsuke, and Former Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki, along with many other members of the Japanese parliament.
HSBC Sri Lanka being one of A-PAD’s long-standing corporate partners, has been committed towards institutionalising sustainable and innovative Disaster Risk Reduction strategies to their organisation while adopting a multifaceted approach to disaster response and recovery through their Corporate Sustainability initiatives and were recognised and appreciated internationally. The bank’s commitment to respond to multidimensional emergencies including the COVID-19 health responses and its efforts towards the development of future generations through education and livelihood support was commended.
