LankaPay officials met with the Governor of the Central Bank Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe recently to elucidate him on the company’s performance and contribution towards the payment system road map of Sri Lanka.
The purpose was to ensure greater clarity and congruence towards the national digitisation roadmap and the role of LankaPay as the national payment network. The fruitful deliberations also paved the way to expedite several initiatives of national significance in order to reap the full benefit of a domestic payment network, keeping pace with similar payment networks in the region.
LankaPay, as the National Payment Network of the country, comes under the direct purview of the Central Bank and is entrusted with the technology implementations relating to Central Bank’s vision towards driving digital payments in the country. The company, during its illustrious 20-year journey, has spearheaded several ground-breaking payment technology innovations to make digital payments convenient, affordable and accessible to every Sri Lankan.
