For the fifth consecutive year, LankaPay – Sri Lanka’s National Payment Network – has partnered with Sri Lanka’s premier annual Cyber Security Summit 2019 edition as the Official Payment Network.

The summit consists of three key events: Cyber Security Day Conference and the Night Hack on 24 September and CEOs’ Forum on Cyber Security on 25 September. The CEOs’ Forum discusses why cyber security should be a board room discussion, whilst the Night Hack is an innovative and informative evening of information security demonstrations. The summit also consists of the Youth Summit on Cyber Security on 23 September at the BMICH held for the third consecutive year.

The summit is co-organised by CICRA – Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training and consultancy organisation – and Daily FT, country’s only business and finance newspaper.

Speaking at the ceremony to mark the partnership between LankaPay and the Cyber Security Summit, Lanka Clear General Manager/CEO Channa de Silva said that they are indeed delighted to have partnered this year’s Cyber Security Summit as the Official Payment Network.

“One of the outcomes of the digital transformation we are witnessing today is the increasing exposure to cyber security risks. With the evolving threat landscape, the world is facing new and complex cyber risks on a continuous basis. That has put economies and businesses around the world at unprecedented risks,” de Silva said.

“As the operator of Sri Lanka’s National Payment Network, we consider ensuring security to be the focal point of all our operations. We continuously invest in improving security to ensure that we are on par with international standards.”

“This is reflected in LankaClear becoming the first entity in Sri Lanka to obtain the coveted PCI-DSS certification, which is the highest security standard for the payment card industry in the world. Our commitment towards security has contributed immensely for the country’s financial sector to remain resilient amidst growing vulnerabilities. It is in this light that we find great synergy in partnering with CICRA-Daily FT Cyber Security Summit continuously for the fifth consecutive year,” he said.

Meanwhile, CICRA Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said that the co-organisers are delighted to have LankaPay – The National Payment Network – as a partner of the summit for the fifth consecutive year. “The main objective of the summit is to create awareness on the importance of Cyber Security among top officers in the top corporate management and IT professionals. It also infuses them with the best practices in acquiring, implementing, managing and measuring information security postures of their organisations and countermeasures.”

“The summit will also expose latest flaws in information security that affects the global community including the corporations and the governments. Discussions and presentations will revolve around some of the most malicious attacks and potential threats surrounding the security field.” he said.
