LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s national payment network operated by LankaClear Ltd. under the guidance and supervision of the Central Bank, has now come on board as the official payment network partner of Sri Lanka’s flagship ICT-Expo Infotel 2019. The exhibition will be held from 1 to 3 November at the BMICH under the theme ‘Towards a digital nation’.

Organised by the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) for the 27th consecutive year Infotel is the largest ICT gathering in Sri Lanka that attracts over 100,000 participants each year.

‘Start-Up Pavilion’ is one exciting segment of the exhibition, which is to showcase startup companies as an initiative backed by ICTA and a few other private sector partners.

LankaClear General Manager/CEO states, “Many businesses across the world are being disrupted by new technologies and business models especially coming from the Start-up companies. Thus, Sri Lanka is in a great position to leverage the highly skilled pool of talent who are able to deliver disruptive technology solutions via an innovative thought process. LankaClear is proud to partner and support the Start-up ecosystem in Sri Lanka to further revolutionise the payment industry landscape in the country by introducing cutting edge technologies to take financial services to the rural masses.”

FITIS Chairman Abbas Kamrudeen further stated, “This event is significant as it encompasses all lifestyles and all age groups. Over 100,000 participants including CEOs of local and international ICT Companies, professionals, decision makers, entrepreneurs, educationalists, students and members of the public are expected to visit the exhibition. Infotel will serve as a bridge and offer a viable window of opportunity to Sri Lankan companies in the ICT sphere. ‘Towards a Digital Nation’, aims at building a holistic nation that thrives on digital technology. This would enable citizens of all sectors, and the Government to synchronise all economic activities around technology for growth and development.”

FITIS has played a lead role in organising this event all throughout the years with the active support of the government and private sector institutions. Sri Lanka has already recognised the importance of a digital economy to face future economic and social challenges, however, to achieve this target as a nation it is important to integrate ourselves into digital technologies, thus, we hereby take the opportunity to invite all members of the public to join Infotel as the biggest annual ICT event in Sri Lanka.
