Limited activity in secondary bond and bill market

The secondary bond and bill market witnessed limited trading activity yesterday. In the bond market, the 01.05.27 maturity was seen changing hands within the range of 21.50% to 21.90% while in bills, 15th July 2022, 05th August 2022 and 05th May 2023 maturities changed hands at levels of 21.00%, 22.00% to 22.50% and 23.00% respectively.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 04th May 2022 was Rs.7.66 billion.   

In money markets, the weighted average rates on overnight Call money and REPO was registered at 14.50% each while the net liquidity deficit stood at Rs.587.55 billion yesterday. An amount of Rs.184.70 billion was deposited at Central Banks SDFR (Standard Deposit Facility Rate) of 13.50% while an amount of Rs.772.25 billion was withdrawn from Central Banks SLFR (Standard Deposit Facility Rate) of 14.50%.

Forex Market 

The Forex market continued to remain inactive. 

The total USD/LKR traded volume for 04th May 2022 was US $ 13.00 million.
