MBSL Insurance bids farewell to Chairman D.P.K. Gunasekera

MBSL Insurance Company Ltd., recently bid farewell to its esteemed Chairman D.P.K. Gunasekera. 

With deep gratitude and appreciation, the company reflects on Gunasekera’s invaluable contributions throughout his tenure.

Under Gunasekera’s leadership, MBSL Insurance witnessed remarkable business growth whilst simultaneously facing and overcoming market challenges. His leadership and unwavering commitment to serve both customers and employees have left an indelible mark in the company’s journey. 

A veteran banker, former General Manager of Bank of Ceylon, D.P.K. Gunasekera was appointed as the Chairman of MBSL Insurance Company Ltd. in 2021. 

Gunasekera had previously held key positions at BOC including Senior Deputy General Manager (International, Treasury and Investment), Deputy General Manager (Corporate and Offshore Banking), Assistant General Manager (Overseas Branches) and Assistant General Manager (Corporate Relations). He was also the Head of Treasury Operations in the BOC Chennai Branch during the period of 2000-2003 and also worked as the Deputy Country Head of BOC Chennai Branch during 2008-2011. 

Gunasekera also functioned as a director of several other subsidiaries and associate companies of Bank of Ceylon during his career.  A graduate from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka with a Bachelor of Science Special Degree in Business Administration, he also possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Finance Administration from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
