Mangala says Ranel proposed as new SEC Chief; awaiting President’s nod

Finance Minister MangalaSamaraweera yesterday confirmed that Ranel Wijesinha is tipped to be the next Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), while the new Board of Directors will be announced in a few days.

“RanelWijesinghe’s name has been nominated to be the next Chairman of the SEC. We are awaiting the Presidential Secretariat’s approval to send the letters as soon as possible,” he told journalists at a media briefing yesterday.

It was pointed that the new commissioners are likely to be appointed to the SECwithin this week.
