In an effort to provide customers with a cutting-edge digital solution for time management this new year, NDB Bank yesterday unveiled the industry’s first-ever AI (artificial intelligence) and AR (augmented reality) integrated interactive talking calendar.

The innovation is named ‘NDB Talking Calendar’ where an AI and AR-generated ‘NDB Calendar Pal’ serves as a virtual assistant, offering users an immersive experience throughout the year. This launch is to mark the commencement of NDB Bank’s digital transformation journey, envisioning the New Year as a canvas for introducing more ground-breaking technologies and redefining the standards of banking.

Speaking at the launch, NDB CEO Dimantha Seneviratne said: “In aligning with our bank’s promise, ‘The future is banking on us’, we have committed ourselves not merely keeping pace with the digital evolution, but to set a pace for the entire industry while introducing a lot of innovative digital banking experiences.”

He explained that in continuing digital transformation, “It is important to embrace the position of a corporate pioneer, consistently pushing cutting-edge solutions to enhance the banking experience of its clients. The AI and AR-generated interactive calendar was an embodiment of NDB’s commitment to corporate innovation,” Seneviratne said.

In the previous year, NDB launched the first-of-its-kind AI calendar in Sri Lanka, whereas 2024 has expanded on that technology by combining AI and AR in creating the talking calendar. Users can scan the QR code on the NDB Calendar Pal and get up-to-date information on financial and economic developments, market offers and an array of offers from the NDB throughout the year.
