NDB wins at HSBC, New York for 4th consecutive year

NDB Bank’s payments and settlements process which is one of the best in the market, has once again won international recognition for quality, timeliness and straight through processing of international payments effected.

NDB won the US Dollar STP excellence award from HSBC New York for the fourth consecutive year. NDB Bank was ranked among the Top 20 of HSBC’s correspondent banks in Asia for quality of payment messages.

This recognition is awarded based on strict selection criteria, evaluating many of their correspondent banks. The selection process includes the quality and the quantity of the payments effected by the winning bank and the percentage of payments that qualify to be passed straight through the international payment system without manual intervention. The correct formatting of the messages, accuracy and comprehensive screening for sanctioned or black listed beneficiaries as per the international standards are also assessed. The award reflects the capabilities and the quality of the processing team of the financial institution, with a STP ratio of above 99%.

By winning this award NDB Bank demonstrates to customers and correspondent banks its processing capabilities which are on par with international standards.

NDB also won The Banker – UK “Bank of the Year” award as well as the Best Bank in Sri Lanka by the coveted awards program of the Global Finance Magazine, USA. As such 2018 marks a significant year for NDB where it won both these prestigious awards in one single year, which is a rare feat for a bank. 

In addition NDB won a number of other awards within the year 2018 including being named the Bank of the Year for “Excellence in Customer Convenience” from LankaPay Technnovation Awards, emerging Winner under the banking sector and the Runner-Up for Excellence in Corporate Governance at the National Business Excellence Awards 2018, and seven additional awards under three categories – Retail Banking Awards, Wholesale Banking Awards and Corporate & Investment Banking Awards by the Asian Banking & Finance Magazine of Singapore among others.
