National Savings Bank (NSB) was recognised as a ‘Company with Great Managers’ with five individuals of the Bank winning awards under four different categories at the ‘Great Manager Awards 2020’ hosted by the Colombo Leadership Academy for Leadership Excellence. Accordingly, NSB was honoured to be the first state bank in Sri Lanka to receive this award.
The Managers of the Bank, C.N. Ekanayake, J.M.A.K. Jayasinghe and Dulakshi Tashiya Perera were awarded the ‘Great Manager Awards 2020’ under three different categories, namely, ‘Driving Results and Execution’, ‘Coaching others for growth’ and ‘Aligning Organisational Vision’ respectively while V.S. Fernando and D.C. Olaboduwa was awarded under the category, ‘Team Effectiveness and Collaboration’.
NSB Chairperson Keasila Jayawardena addressing the gathering said that the Bank takes pride in creating committed managers within the Bank by adopting very good HR practices and a comprehensive training program. Further, she noted that a person’s management and leadership skills would always ensure the success of the organisation as well as the person’s personal life. ‘The Companies with Great Managers and ‘The Great Managers Awards’ is an initiative taken towards identifying, assessing and recognising organisations with ‘Great Managers’. The Awards, through a set of stringent leadership competency evaluations strives to define and build an eco-system and culture that nurtures great managers in Sri Lanka.
The organiser of the event, Colombo Leadership Academy said that NSB has been chosen from a number of nominations received to contend and validate managerial excellence and best HR practices among leading Sri Lankan corporate entities. On an individual level, the Great Manager Awards would be a great opportunity for the Bank to assess its own managerial and leadership effectiveness while identifying overall strengths and areas of development for the managerial pool.
The Colombo Leadership Academy CEO Riaz Hassen, National Savings Bank Chairperson Keasila Jayawardena and the members of the senior management of the Bank and Colombo Leadership Academy were present at the occasion.
