Nations Trust Bank has become the first in Sri Lanka to introduce the Touch Card, an initiative implemented by Mastercard.
The Touch Card is specially designed to aid visually impaired and partially sighted cardholders. This innovative card enhances the bank’s range of debit cards and underscores its commitment to enhancing customer experiences that are on par with global standards.
The Mastercard Touch Card features a distinct rounded notch, which enables the visually impaired cardholders to easily distinguish it from any other card. It has been developed in collaboration with a global card manufacturer and was reviewed rigorously by notable organisations such as VISIONS in the United States of America, and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in the United Kingdom.
As the first to launch the Touch Card in Sri Lanka, Nations Trust Bank together with Mastercard has taken several steps forward in the creation of a more inclusive and sustainable payment industry, which reflects the bank’s aspiration for an economy that benefits everyone.
NTB Senior Vice President – Cards and Consumer Assets Niluka Gunatilake said: “It is our pleasure to introduce this ground-breaking Touch Card to Sri Lanka. It underscores Nations Trust Bank’s commitment to making our services more accessible including the visually impaired. The vision of Mastercard to implement such an initiative sets a new standard in banking and accessibility on a global scale, and we at Nations Trust Bank are proud to be the first to bring it to our shores.”
