New CEO at Abans Finance

Abans Finance Plc has announced the appointment of D.V. Dharshan Silva as the new CEO of the company.

He counts over 33 years of experience in the financial services sector of which last ten years was in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer at Arpico Finance Company PLC and at Fintrex Finance Ltd. (formerly known as Melsta Regal Finance Ltd.) respectively.

Apart from his professional career at financial services sector he also has contributed to the sector as a lecturer in credit analysis and in delinquency management, through sessions conducted at Institute of Bankers in Sri Lanka.

Dharshan commenced his career as System Analyst Programmer at Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Ltd. Thereafter he worked as a Consultant to Management Information Systems (MIS) division at Development Finance Corporation of Ceylon (DFCC). Thereafter he has joined Commercial Leasing & Finance PLC (CLC) as a Credit Officer and over 13 years of career he finally resigned as Assistant General Manager – Asset Backed Finance, whilst adding many milestones to CLC history. Darshan holds an MBA with a merit pass from Cardiff Metropolitan University, (where the final research was on determinants of NPL’s in finance leases of NBFI’s in Sri Lanka) and qualified as Registered Investment Advisor from Financial Services Academy (Division of SEC now known as CMET).

He also holds a Diploma with distinction pass in Computer System Design from National Institute of Business Management, an Advanced Diploma from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), and a Certificate pass on Training of Trainers in Micro Finance (University of Frankfurt Germany). He also has attended many other local and overseas training/CPD programs.
