New CEO at Sinhaputhra Finance

Sinhaputhra Finance PLC has announced the appointment of Chandika Yasanath Bandara Weerakoon as the new CEO. He succeeded Kalinga Ravana Buddenipola Wijeyeratne. 

Prior to joining Sinhaputhra Finance, Weerakoon was the Deputy General Manager and Chief Financial Officer at Serendib Finance Ltd., formerly Indra Finance Ltd.

He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK, Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, Attorney-at-Law, Graduate in Law by holding a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka, and holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from the University of London Metropolitan.

He worked as an Auditor and Audit Manager at Ernst & Young from 1994 to 2001, as Financial Strategist and Financial Controller at Venture International Ltd. from 2002 to 2004, as Financial Controller and Director at C Front Clothing from 2005 to 2007, as Senior Manager Finance and CFO at Commercial Credit Ltd. from 2008 to 2009, and as Project Accountant at National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

Controlling shareholders of Sinhaputhra Finance are Singhe Capital Investment Ltd., with a 55% stake whilst Bimputh Finance PLC owns 20%.
