Overwhelming response by local investors for Batticaloa Investor Forum

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) conducted the eighth domestic investor forum in the series of island wide forums titled ‘Kotas Welanda Pola; Nagarayen Nagarayata’. The forum was the second Tamil language based program in the series and was held on 17 March at the East Lagoon Hotel in Batticaloa. The program was concluded on a successful note with the attendance of over 200 participants. The audience included businessmen, lawyers, engineers, doctors and various other local professionals. 

The forum featured presentations by SEC Consultant P. Asokan, who introduced the participants to the Capital Markets, while NDB Securities Ltd. Senior Research Analyst R. Raguram, spoke about sectoral performances and market opportunities. Following these presentations a panel discussion was held with Asokan, Raguram and CSE Jaffna Branch Manager M. Thileepan. The discussion was moderated by CSE Senior Executive R.M. Sivananthan. The participants actively engaged with the panellists on a wide range of topics.

Additionally, four stock broker companies and two unit trust management companies had representatives present at the location to facilitate new account openings as well as provide many other services to the participants. The participants seemed enthusiastic to avail the many opportunities offered at the forum.

The next in the series will be held in Bandarawela during the month of May.
