Sri Lanka’s leading fintech payment service provider PayHere has joined hands with Nations Trust Bank to facilitate online payment accepting through premium card brands for local e-commerce merchants. American Express, Discover and Diners Club International premium card brands are now enabled on PayHere through this partnership.

PayHere offers a single solution for local e-commerce merchants to accept business payments online through multiple payment options and allows consumers to use their existing payment instruments such as credit/debit cards, mobile wallets or internet banking accounts to pay to e-commerce merchants.

The solution encompasses cutting-edge online payment technologies such as payment links, shopping-cart plugins, recurring billing, subscriptions, automated charging, card tokenisation, payment APIs and mobile SDKs which open up innovative business models for local merchants and seamless consumer payment experience for local consumers.

With Nations Trust Bank embracing agility in banking by partnering up with PayHere to enable American Express, Discover and Diners Club International card brands, now all types of local merchants from startups, SMEs to corporates have the ability to gain the competitive advantage by appealing to customers who use the premium card brands.

Nations Trust Bank PLC is among the top 30 business establishments in Sri Lanka as ranked by Business Today Magazine, ably providing a host of financial products and services to a wide range of customers. It is also the bank behind Sri Lanka’s first fully digital bank, FriMi and the issuer and sole acquirer for American Express Cards in Sri Lanka.

PayHere, launched in 2016 to break through the online payment barriers in Sri Lanka, now empowers more than 1200 local merchants to get their business payments online. PayHere is the first private entity in Sri Lanka to obtain the Central Bank approval to operate as an aggregated payment service provider in 2018 and it now supports a total of 12 payment methods through a single solution.

With a progressive business model, PayHere collaborates with many banks and financial institutions to radically drive change in how future customer pays and disrupts the gradual evolution of the financial ecosystem of Sri Lanka to harness the productivity of citizens, through its strategic collaborations and innovation based technology expertise.
