Python and machine learning virtual course for investment management to launch next week

The CFA Society Sri Lanka is to unveil its virtual course on ‘Enhancing Investment Management with Python and Machine Learning’ in collaboration with Acuity Knowledge Partners commencing from Tuesday, 28 September. 

Commenting about the launch of this virtual course, CFA Society Sri Lanka President Dinesh Warusavitharana CFA said that the technology had already transformed many industries, from the medical to the automotive. “However, its adoption in investment management so far has been limited and we believe machine learning can transform the way investment strategies are administered by all types of managers who will have a greater potential to drive investment decisions. We are thankful to Chanakya and the team at Acuity Knowledge Partners, who collaborated with us to offer this program exclusively to CFA members and candidates in Sri Lanka.”

The objective of the course would be to enable financial analysts to get an intuitive understanding into key data science aspects, experiment with them, and explore how they can be applied in real world applications and the course will cover basic understanding of using Python for analytics, refreshment and practical application of statistics, practical portfolio optimisation in Python, and understanding and implementing basic machine learning in Python.

The distinguished panel of lecturers from Acuity Knowledge Partners have substantial programming and data science credentials and are equipped to offer exclusive insight into the modules set forth. Gamika Seneviratne (CFA, Assistant Director), Sanjeth Srikathirkamanathan (Senior Associate), Sajidh Ahamed (Associate), Krishantha Dharmasiri (Delivery Manager), Beshani Weralupitiya (Analyst), and Flora Muthukumarasamy (Analyst) constitute the panel of experts to deliver the course.
