Rs. 45 b on offer at Primary Treasury bond auctions

The primary Treasury bond auctions due today will see a total volume of Rs. 45 billion on offer, consisting of Rs. 15 billion of a 01.08.2025 maturity and Rs. 30 billion of a 15.01.2033 maturity. At the auctions conducted on 11 February, an amount of Rs. 38.23 billion was taken up in total against a total offered amount of Rs. 50 billion. 

The second phase of the auction was opened for both auction maturities of 01.08.2025 and 01.12.2031 while weighted average rates were recorded at 11.92% and 12.70% respectively. 

Meanwhile, bond market was at a standstill yesterday while limited trades were witnessed on the secondary bill market with May 2022 maturities changing hands at levels of 8.00% and 8.65% respectively.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 23 February 2022 was Rs. 61.42 billion.   

In money markets, the overnight net liquidity deficit was registered at Rs. 617.88 billion yesterday as an amount of Rs. 59.79 billion was deposited at Central Banks SDFR (Standard Deposit Facility Rate) of 5.50% against an amount of Rs. 677.67 billion withdrawn from Central Banks SLFR (Standard Lending Facility Rate) of 6.50%. 

The weighted average rates on overnight Call money and REPO stood at 6.49% and 6.50% respectively.



Forex Market 

In the Forex market, limited trades on the USD/LKR spot contracts was seen at levels of Rs. 202.97 to Rs. 203.00 yesterday while the overall market remained inactive. 

The total USD/LKR traded volume for 23 February 2022 was 

$ 36.00 million.
