SANASA International, Sri Lanka was proud to participate as the representative in the Empowering Farmer Organisations Workshop held in Bangkok from 22 to 25 April.
Organised by the Asia Pacific Farmers Program/Farmers Organisations for Asia (APFP/FO4A), this strategic workshop was aimed at enhancing the commercial viability of Farmer Organisations (FOs) across the Asia-Pacific region.
Led by IFAD specialist Prof. Danilo Songco, the workshop addressed critical challenges and opportunities facing FOs in achieving economic sustainability. SANASA International played an active role in discussions and activities focused on deepening the understanding of commercialisation, developing assessment tools for FOs, and designing capacity-building frameworks.
“Our participation in interactive sessions, presentations, and field exposure visits provided valuable insights and practical experiences. It was a privilege to collaborate with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, sharing knowledge and contributing to the development of strategies to strengthen FOs’ market linkages, secure financing, optimise business systems, and foster investment readiness,” SANASA International said.
The workshop culminated in an APFP-FO4A National Implementing Agencies (NIAs) regional meeting on 25 April where SANASA International had the opportunity to share updates, exchange best practices, and contribute to regional project strategies for 2024-2025.
SANASA International, Sri Lanka said it is committed to leveraging the outcomes of this workshop to empower farmer communities, promote sustainable agricultural development, and drive economic prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.
