The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) successfully concluded another investor forum in Anuradhapura, at the Golden Mango Resort on 19 September.
The forum was organised with the objective of raising awareness on the importance of investor education and investor protection.
The forum attracted over 230 participants, including professionals and business communities in the region. The forum provided valuable insights on investor education and investor protection.
At the investor forum, SEC Manager – External Relations Nimal Kumarasinghe provided a basic knowledge of investments, the process of investing, and the pros and cons of investing in the stock market. A session to create awareness on the CSE Mobile App was conducted by a CSE Senior Executive – Digital Products Shanika Ramanayake.
Furthermore, an analysis of the sectoral performance and market opportunities was presented by LOLC Securities Ltd. Deputy Manager – Economics and Equity Research Naleen Sadeesh.
A panel discussion was held with the participation of Nimal Kumarasinghe, Naleen Sadeesh, and CSE Senior Vice President – Marketing Niroshan Wijesundere, providing an opportunity for participants to clarify any doubts from the panellists.
The participants were also given the opportunity to meet investment advisors from stock brokerage firms and representatives of unit trust management companies.
The SEC and CSE have conducted a number of forums this year in Badulla, Panadura, Trincomalee, Ampara, Batticaloa and Negombo to create awareness on investor education and protection while highlighting the importance of financial literacy.
