SEC and CSE host Investor Forum in Panadura

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) conducted an Investor Forum on 18 March 2023 at the Jie Jie Beach by Jetwing Panadura.

The forum was organised with the objective of raising awareness of the importance of investor education and investor protection.

The forum attracted approximately 175 participants which included existing and potential investors. The forum provided valuable insights on investor education and investor protection.

SEC External Relations and Capital Market Education Director Tushara Jayaratne provided a basic knowledge of investments, the process of investing and the pros and cons of investing in the Stock Market. A session to create awareness on the CSE Mobile App was conducted by CSE Digital Products Senior Executive Shanika Ramanayake.

Furthermore, an analysis of the sectoral performance & market opportunities was presented by Softlogic Asset Management Asst. Treasury Vice President Shashika Wickramaratne.

A panel discussion was held with the participation of Tushara Jayaratne, Shashika Wickramaratne and CSE Branch Network Manager Nishantha Batagalle, providing an opportunity for participants to clarify any doubts from the panellists.

The participants were also given the opportunity to meet investment advisors from stock brokering firms and representatives of Unit Trust Management companies. The SEC and CSE has planned more investor forums in locations such as Trincomalee, Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa in order to create awareness via investor education and protection whilst highlighting the importance of financial literacy.
