SEC and CSE host another investor forum in Negombo

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) successfully conducted another investor forum in Negombo at Jetwing Blue on 12 August.   

The forum was organised with the objective of raising awareness of the importance of investor education and investor protection.

The forum attracted approximately 130 participants, including professionals and business communities in the region. The forum provided valuable insights on investor education and investor protection. 

At the investor forum, SEC Deputy Director General Tushara Jayaratne provided a basic knowledge of investments, the process of investing, and the pros and cons of investing in the stock market. A session to create awareness on the CSE Mobile App was conducted by a CSE Executive from the Kandy Branch, Madhawa Aramandeniya. 

Furthermore, an analysis of the sectoral performance and market opportunities was presented by Softlogic Stockbrokers Ltd. Co-Head of Research Raynal Wickremeratne.

A panel discussion was held with the participation of Tushara Jayaratne, Raynal Wickremeratne and CSE Kandy Branch Manager Dhananjaya Abeysiriwardena, providing an opportunity for participants to clarify any doubts from the panellists.

The participants were also given the opportunity to meet investment advisors from stock brokerage firms and representatives of unit trust management companies.

The SEC and CSE have conducted a number of forums this year in Badulla, Panadura, Trincomalee, Ampara and Batticaloa to create awareness on investor education and protection while highlighting the importance of financial literacy.
