In order to commemorate World Children’s Day on 1 October, Sri Lanka Insurance (SLIC) launched yet another heartwarming Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by providing a free life cover worth Rs. 1 million for the parents of every child born on 1 October 2022 island-wide, ensuring the future of those infants are protected.

The program was carried out island-wide, covering all hospitals on 1 October. As the national insurer, the main objective behind this CSR initiative is to fulfil SLIC’s duty towards the nation by safeguarding the nation’s families and communities.

Commenting on this unique initiative during an event to award this new policy to the parents at Castle Hospital, Colombo, SLIC Chief Executive Officer Chandana L. Aluthgama noted: “Providing a secure future to the children of this nation is a priority for SLIC and we will continue to support the parents as well. SLIC is a people-centric insurance provider, and it will continue to deliver its promise.”

As a national insurer, SLIC has been taking the message of insurance to everyone, as its responsibility towards the nation and its people, and has taken a keen interest in protecting and nurturing future generations. SLIC strongly believes in uplifting lives of Sri Lankan people through CSR initiatives and this approach is a core element in its business strategy. SLIC has always stepped forward to protect the education and future of children, particularly when children lose parents’ protection.

Expressing his enthusiasm, SLIC Chairman Ronald C. Perera PC added, “Children are the future of our nation, and we are pleased to extend the free life cover to the parents of all children in Sri Lanka who are born on World Children’s Day on 1 October 2022. We hope this gesture from SLIC gives them and their families the best start in life. SLIC remains committed to nurture and protect the wellbeing of our nation’s greatest asset – our children.”
