Sanjaya Bandara new Chairman at Mercantile Investments and Finance

Non-Executive Independent Director Sanjaya Bandara has been appointed the new Chairman of Mercantile Investments and Finance Plc.

The appointment follows the retirement of Saroja H.J. Weerasuriya after he completed a full nine years on the Board on 26 January 2020.

Bandara, a Partner at B.R. De Silva and Company, Chartered Accountants since 2004, serves on several of Mercantile Investments’ Board subcommittees including the Audit Committee, Nomination Committee and Related Party Transaction Review Committee.

With a career spanning nearly two decades across the financial services and education sectors, Bandara brings his expertise in auditing, accounting, taxation, governance and strategic management to the Board.

Having read for his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colombo, Bandara went on to obtain his Bachelors in Accountancy from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) of Sri Lanka and of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FAAT) of Sri Lanka.

With the latest appointment, the Board of Mercantile Investments and Finance Plc comprises S.M.S.S. Bandara (Chairman), Gerard Ondaatjie, P.M. Amarasekera (Deputy Managing Director), S.H. Jayasuriya (Director - Finance), Angeline Ondaatjie, Travice Ondaatjie, P.T.K. Navaratne, N.H.V. Perera and P.C. Guhashanka.
