Sanjiv Keerthiratne appointed MD and CEO of Finlay Insurance Brokers

Finlays Colombo Ltd.’s Public Affairs division today announced the appointment of Sanjiv Keethiratne as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Finlay Insurance Brokers Ltd. He will take up his responsibilities with effect from 17 May.

Sanjiv Keerthiratne is a veteran of the insurance industry in Sri Lanka with nearly 30 years of experience working with a number of insurers and brokers. He is a Fellow of The Chartered Insurance Institute UK as well as a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and have obtained an MBA from the Commonwealth. He has also held additional responsibilities such as President of The Sri Lanka Insurance Institute and Treasurer of The Sri Lanka Insurance Brokers Association.

Graeme La Brooy, the current Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee is the Deputy Chairman and Principal Officer at Finlay Insurance Brokers Ltd. He has earlier served in senior management positions at Janashakthi Insurance and Asian Alliance and was Chief Executive Officer of Foresight Insurance & Reinsurance Brokers Ltd.

Finlays Colombo Ltd. has entered into a binding share-purchase agreement with IIRM Holdings Ltd., a Singapore-based investment company, whereby IIRM has agreed to buy out 100% of Finlays’ shareholding in Finlay Insurance Brokers Ltd. This sale forms part of a strategic divestment process currently underway at Finlays Colombo Ltd. in order that the company can better focus on and grow its core tea business.
