Secondary market activity continues on 10-year bond

  • Rupee steady for fifth consecutive day

The secondary bond market activity continued on the 10-year maturity of 01.07.32 yesterday as it was seen changing hands at levels of 29.48% to 29.52% against its previous day’s closing level of 29.30/50. In the secondary bill market, 23 December and 8 September 2023 maturities traded at levels of 31.00% and 29.40% to 29.62% respectively.

The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volume for 21 September was Rs. 37.48 billion.   

In money markets, the net liquidity deficit stood at Rs. 395.11 billion yesterday as an amount of Rs. 343.09 billion was deposited at Central Bank’s Standard Deposit Facility Rate (SDFR) of 14.50% against an amount of Rs. 738.20 billion withdrawn from Central Bank’s Standard Lending Facility Rate (SLFR) of 15.50%. The weighted average rate on overnight REPO stood at 15.50%.



Forex market 

In the forex market, the middle rate for USD/LKR spot contracts remained steady for a fifth consecutive day at Rs. 362.90.

The total USD/LKR traded volume for 21 September was $ 6.74 million.
