Seminar on proposed legislative framework for securities market regulation and implications for list

A seminar on the proposed legislative framework for securities market regulation and its implications for listed companies will be held on 23 January 2018 at the Cinnamon Lake Side Hotel from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Securities Exchange Bill was Gazetted on 17 November 2017 and ordered to be published by the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs to establish the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka; to regulate market institutions, public offers of securities, market intermediaries; to deal with market misconduct; and to meet the challenges encountered by securities markets in an effective and efficient manner and to repeal the Securities and Ex-change Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No. 36 of 1987 and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The proposed new SEC Act has far reaching implications on the capital markets of Sri Lanka. Key provisions of the Act that will be discussed at the seminar:

• Impact of Civil Powers
• The Colombo Stock Exchange
